Mrs. BraddockMrs. Braddock 6th Grade Teacher

This will be Mrs. Braddock's 11th year teaching. During her first few years of college she played Division I and Division III lacrosse. She attended George Mason University where she earned her master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She is married and has 2 children (5 year old and a 2 year old). She loves to cook, travel, and write.

Miss. HammMiss. Hamm 6th Grade Teacher

Miss. Hamm joined our Coates Staff last year. She has experience teaching 1st, 5th, and 6th grade and is excited to continue her experience with 6th grade. Miss. Hamm graduated from Regent University with a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies K-6. She loves to spend time outdoors with her friends and family.

Mrs. HerringMrs. Herring 6th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Herring joins us this year from North Carolina. She graduated from Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro and taught PE in Brazil for six years. She then moved to South Florida, where she taught preschool and Kindergarten for six years before moving to North Carolina. In Charlotte, she taught first, third and sixth grade science for ten years.  Mrs. Herring is a vegetarian, loves dark chocolate and enjoys running. She is married and has two daughters. Mrs. Herring has a passion for traveling and learning about new cultures. She looks forward to a wonderful year at Coates. 

Mr. OlsenMr. Olsen 6th Grade Teacher

Mr. Olsen joined the Coates staff in 2012, after moving from Long Island to Northern Virginia. He received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stony Brook University and a Master’s in Education (with a concentration in Math and Science) from Dowling College. Mr. Olsen has 3 children, 2 sons, one in NY and one in Arizona, plus a daughter in Florida. He likes to play tennis, travel, cook, eat at different restaurants, and enjoys action movies. Mr. Olsen is the school’s Lead Science Teacher and the sixth grade Advanced Academics Teacher.
