Ms. Brennan has been an educator in Fairfax County Schools for 13 years. She has taught 2nd-5th grade, been a Reading Specialist and Instructional Coach. Most recently, she was a Literacy Collaborative Coach at Mount Vernon Woods Elementary in Alexandria. She is passionate about seeing students succeed and loves to help kids connect with books. She has many favorites that she would love to share with you; just ask! |
Mrs. Buck joined the Coates team in 2015 as a math specialist. She started her teaching career in Ohio as a first grade teacher. She then moved to New England and taught middle school math and science. Finally, she moved to Virginia to begin her FCPS teaching career. Mrs. Buck graduated from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio with her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and obtained her masters from NOVA Southeastern University. She can often be found watching one of her three kids playing sports. Mrs. Buck loves MATH!! In her free time, she loves to travel all over the world. Her most recent trip took her to Bogota, Colombia to pick up her newly adopted son. |
Mrs. Chambers is excited to join the Coates team this year! She will be working with the K-2 students as our part-time math resource teacher. She is originally from outside Buffalo, NY. She attended SUNY Fredonia for her undergraduate degree in Childhood Education and then received her Masters degree from St. Bonaventure University in Childhood Literacy. Mrs. Chambers started working for FCPS in 2006. When she is not working she loves to spend time with her family and travel. |
Mrs. Gregory has been working and learning in the field of education for 25 years. She has been a classroom teacher (grades 1, 3 and 5) and has served as a reading interventionist for grades K-6. She loves visiting her daughter at VCU and hanging out with her husband, 2 teenaged sons and cute dog Buzz at home. She walks almost every day, loves to cook and garden and LOVES teaching kids. |
Mrs. Gross is thrilled to be joining the Coates Family! She was born in Massachusetts and moved to Central Florida when she was twelve. After graduating from Stetson University, with a degree in Political Science and History she moved to the Washington DC area where she met her husband Ken. She received her Masters degree in Education from George Mason University and started teaching in 2008. Mrs. Gross lives in Herndon with her husband, two children, dog and gecko and is looking forward to a wonderful school year! |
Mrs. Saraswathula (aka Mrs. S) has been an Instructional Assistant with FCPS since 2010, and at Coates since 2012. Mrs. S substituted for a year before that. Mrs. S holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting and has worked as an accounted for nearly 10 years prior to teaching. Mrs. S lives in the Coates community area. She has two sons, one pursuing his MD, and the second in High School.
