Mrs. AboubakrMrs. Aboubakr Special Education

Mrs. Aboubakr is new to Coates elementary school. She graduated from George Mason University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. Mrs. Aboubakr has worked as a substitute teacher at Fairfax County Public Schools prior to Coates Elementary. She also speaks three languages fluently. Mrs. Aboubakr is a proud mother and a loving wife. She enjoys family outings and activities. Mrs. Aboubakr is very passionate about working with young students and helping them gain the skills they need to become life long learners. It comes as no surprise that she is very excited to join the Coates ES special education team and looks foreword to learning and growing with her students.

Mrs. BawaMrs. Bawa Special Education

Mrs. Bawa is one of the original staff members who helped open Coates ES in 2009. She started her teaching career in 2002 as a special education IA at Herndon ES. In 2006, she graduated from George Mason University with Masters Degree in Special Education. She has worked as Multiple Disabilities at Floris ES (2006-2009), and as an Autism teacher, Cat B teacher and Learning Disabilities at Coates ES ( 2009 - present). She also holds a Bachelor's degree from India majoring in Psychology. She has a loving husband and two grown up kids. She loves to travel with her family and enjoys painting and cooking.

Mrs. EisenbachMrs. Eisenbach Special Education Mrs. Eisenbach joined the Coates in 2014. She was raised in Heidelberg, Germany, and raised in a military household. Mrs. Eisenbach started her teaching career as a special education teacher in Connecticut. Before coming to Coates, she taught at Laurel Hill Elementary School. Mrs. Eisenbach graduated from the University of Hartford with a triple major in Integrated Elementary Education, Special Education, and Rhetoric & Professional Writing. She obtained her masters in Special Education from Liberty University. When not in school, Mrs. Eisenbach enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.

Mrs. FechterMrs. Fechter Special Education

This is my first year at Coates Elementary School as a Special Education teacher. I am so excited to be here and get to know the families of Coates. I came to Coates from McNair Elementary School where I taught for 13 years. I am originally from New York and graduated from Fordham University with a degree in Business Administration. I also received my Masters in Special Education from George Mason University. I have 3 kids, a son in high school, a daughter in middle school, and another daughter in 3rd grade. We keep busy with all of their activities and can often be found on a soccer field or driving the girls to a dance class! I enjoy being at the beach as well as visiting family in New York. I am looking forward to a great year at Coates Elementary School.

Mrs. GeisslerMrs. Geissler Special Education

Mrs. Geissler joined the Coates team as a special education teacher in 2010. While at Coates, she has taught students in second through sixth grades. Mrs. Geissler earned her undergraduate degree at Bates College in Maine, her Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology at Loyola University in Maryland, and her Master of Education degree in special education at George Mason University in Virginia. For fun, Mrs. Geissler likes to spend time with her husband and four children. As a family, they enjoy swimming, biking, and playing at the beach.

Ms. MuellerMs. Mueller Special Education

Ms. Mueller joined the Coates Special Education team in 2013. She started her teaching career as an art teacher in New York. She then moved to Virginia in 2011 where she became a special education teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools at London Towne Elementary. Ms. Mueller graduated with her undergraduate degree from Saint Joseph's University with a dual major in Elementary Education and Special Education and obtained her master's degree in Severe and Multiple Disabilities from Saint Joseph's University. Ms. Mueller loves to run, hike, and explore the outdoors with her three children and dog.

Mrs. NicholsMrs. Nichols Special Education

 

Hello, my name is Lynn Nichols. I am a mother of five children and a grandmother of two beautiful grandsons. I was born in Newark, New Jersey. I graduated from Kean University in Union, New Jersey with a BA in Teacher of the Handicapped. I also attended Farleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey where I received the Orton-Gillingham Dyslexia Specialist Certificate. I have been a Special Education teacher for the past 23 years. I have a special place in my heart towards Coates Elementary School because I am one of the “original stars”. You can tell we have had a significant increase in our student enrollment by the placement of our many luxurious classroom cottages on our campus. My passions are being a life-long learner, reading, and gardening. Having taught in New Jersey and now in Virginia, I feel that the Virginia Public School System better prepares our children to be Strong Individuals, Bold Thinkers, and Collaborative Teammates.

Mrs. NimisheMrs. Nimishe Special Education

Mrs. Nimishe joined the Coates team in 2010. She started her teaching career as a Kindergarten Assistant at Coates while she was working on her Masters degree in Special Education from George Mason University. She earned her Masters degree in Microbiology from India. Mrs. Nimishe has worked with almost all grade levels at Coates. She is presently working with fifth grade. She actively volunteers at a local nonprofit spiritual organization. Mrs. Nimishe loves to sing, watch movies and attend musical concerts with her husband and their teenage son.

Mrs. PendleburyMrs. Pendlebury Speech

Mrs. Pendlebury comes to Coates Elementary school from Virginia Run Elementary where she was the speech/language pathologist for 16 years. Prior to working in Fairfax County, Mrs. Pendlebury worked at St. Coleta, a private special education school then located in Arlington. Mrs. Pendlebury graduated from Wake Forest University with an undergraduate degree in psychology and her masters in speech pathology from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Mrs. Pendlebury enjoys spending time at Deep Creek Lake with her husband, son, and daughter.

Mrs. WurzMrs. Wurz Special Education

Mrs. Wurz has worked in special education for six years. She began as an instructional assistant for an autism classroom and then transitioned into inclusion. Mrs. Wurz received her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Regent University. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Virginia Wesleyan University. Mrs. Wurz enjoys spending time with her daughters, husband, and her cat Mac.

Mrs. BarathMrs. Barath Instructional Assistant

Mrs. Barath joined the Coates staff in December of 2011, as a special education Instructional assistant. Prior to that, she worked as an elementary school substitute teacher in India for two years. Mrs. Barath graduated from Manonmaniyum University in India with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. She also enjoys teaching Sunday School at her church. She has a caring husband and two beautiful children, a son whose is a junior at Westfield HS and a girl in eighth grade at Rachel Carson! Mrs. Barath loves to visit her family in India during her summer break.

Mrs. DasiMrs. Dasi Instructional Assistant

Mrs. Dasi is new to Coates ES but had been subbing at this school since 2013. She started teaching students with disabilities in 2010 back in India. She worked with students with multiple disabilities and Learning disabilities in both classroom and homebound environments. Mrs. Dasi holds a Master's Degree in General Education and a Bachelor's degree in Special Education from Osmania University, India.

Mrs. ElameenMrs. Elameen Instructional Assistant

Mrs.Elameen joined the Coates special education team in 2016.She started as a substitute teacher in Fairfax county public school for the past 5 years and she taught all elementary grade levels. She graduated in Accounting from Al Niline University in Sudan, and also holds a master's degree in Accounting from Strayer University, US. She is married and has 4 beautiful children, two of them students at Coates ES. She is a very positive and cheerful person who is willing to help others. She loves watching Arabic movies and music for relaxation. She often travels to her country to visit family with her kids.

Mrs. RavalMrs. Raval Instructional Assistant

Mrs. Raval Joined the Coates Special Education team in 2015. Mrs. Raval has her undergraduate degree in Microbiology and post graduate in Computer Science. Mrs. Raval loves to engage students in learning activities. She especially likes to guide students as they access technology based activities. In her extra time she loves to read and spend time with her famiily.

Mrs. Wilbur is the wife of a wonderful man, the proud mother of 5 children and grandmother to 2 natural and 3 foster grandchildren. She is originally from Pittsburgh, PA, having earned her dual Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Duquesne University.  She taught Special Education in Fairfax County for 5 years before taking time off to raise her children.  During that time she ran an in-home Family Child Care program, continuing to utilize her teaching skills.  She then substituted in the County for several years before returning to teaching Special Education at Hutchison and then Powell Elementary schools.  Three years ago, she retired from teaching and has been working as a Special Education IA, feeling blessed to have joined the Coates team.  She is delighted to continue to follow her passion to improve and enhance the learning skills, academic achievement, personal growth, and self-esteem of the students at Coates while empowering them to become lifelong learners.
